Extracellular Vesicles in Skin Wound Healing

نویسندگان

چکیده

Each year, millions of individuals suffer from a non-healing wound, abnormal scarring, or injuries accompanied by an infection. For these cases, scientists are searching for new therapeutic interventions, which one the most promising is use extracellular vesicles (EVs). Naturally, EV-based signaling takes part in all four wound healing phases: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. Such extensive involvement EVs suggests exploiting their action to modulate impaired phase. Furthermore, next natural capacity, can be engineered better defined pharmaceutical purposes, such as carrying specific cargo targeting destinations labelling them with certain surface proteins. This review aims promote scientific awareness basic translational research summarizing current knowledge about role each stage skin repair recent findings application areas, healing, regeneration, treatment dermal diseases, including stem cell-derived, plant-derived, EVs.

Association of Extracellular Membrane Vesicles with Cutaneous Wound Healing

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are membrane-enclosed vesicles that are released into the extracellular environment by various cell types, which can be classified as apoptotic bodies, microvesicles and exosomes. EVs have been shown to carry DNA, small RNAs, proteins and membrane lipids which are derived from the parental cells. Recently, several studies have demonstrated that EVs can regulate many...

Hemoglobin vesicles improve wound healing and tissue survival in critically ischemic skin in mice.

Local hypoxia, as due to trauma, surgery, or arterial occlusive disease, may severely jeopardize the survival of the affected tissue and its wound-healing capacity. Initially developed to replace blood transfusions, artificial oxygen carriers have emerged as oxygen therapeutics in such conditions. The aim of this study was to target primary wound healing and survival in critically ischemic skin...

Leptin Promotes Wound Healing in the Skin

INTRODUCTION Leptin, a 16 kDa anti-obesity hormone, exhibits various physiological properties. Interestingly, skin wound healing was proven to delay in leptin-deficient ob/ob mice. However, little is known on the mechanisms of this phenomenon. In this study, we attempted to elucidate a role of leptin in wound healing of skin. METHODS Immunohistochemical analysis was performed to confirm the e...

Cooperative Regulation of Substrate Stiffness and Extracellular Matrix Proteins in Skin Wound Healing of Axolotls

Urodele amphibians (Ambystoma mexicanum), unique among vertebrates, can regenerate appendages and other body parts entirely and functionally through a scar-free healing process. The wound epithelium covering the amputated or damaged site forms early and is essential for initiating the subsequent regenerative steps. However, the molecular mechanism through which the wound reepithelializes during...
